Shoe boxes collected in 2012 = 1586 

(an increase of 333 from 2011)

These 1586 shoe boxes were delivered to

children in the Phillipines and Mexico!

Operation Christmas Child is a children's project of Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan's Purse is an international relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham, the organization works in more than 100 countries to provide aid to victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, famine and persecution.

Operation Christmas Child demonstrates God's love to hurting children in a tangible way by partnering with churches worldwide to deliver gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Messiah Lutheran Church is the drop off location for shoe boxes in the Hays area.

In 2013 we are planning to collect items all year to fill shoe boxes at a Packing Party in November, please see the list of items for each month below. 

Be on the look out for sale items and bargain bin items!

The Shopping Cart will be in the Narthex each Sunday for you to place any items in. 

Operation Christmas Child 2013 Monthly Item Collection

March:           Hair ribbons, hair clips, hair bands, brushes, combs, jewelry, purses, watches

April:              Clothing:  t-shirts, shorts, skirts, underwear, socks, pillow case dresses, flip flops, beach shoes

May:               Small dolls & stuffed animals, small toys, cars & trucks, soccer balls (deflated with pump)

June:             Ball caps, sun visors, sunglasses, jump ropes,  yo yo’s, slinkies

July:               Solar calculators, toy flashlights, travel games

August:         Pencils, sharpeners, small notepads, coloring books, crayons, markers, misc. school supplies

September:  Toothbrushes, toothpaste, bar soap & wash cloths, Kleenex (no liquids)

October:       Candy (individually wrapped – nothing that will melt), quart size Ziploc bags, shoe boxes (plastic    or cardboard)

November:   Your time to help staff during collection week and/or $7.00 to help defray shipping costs of shoe boxes packed!
